133 Plant species
Today, we know of 133 plant species which grow on the grounds of the airport. The high quality rating of the biotope which exists around the airport is particularly impressive through the results of the investigation set out on a zoological chart. The survey led to the discovery of a total of 17 animal species which are new for Salzburg and found only on the airport premises and nowhere else in the whole province. The discovery consists partly of rare insects and types of spiders. It has been proven that 14 of the 55 species of bird found at and around the airport actually nest in the airport area.
