Flight Noise Commission
Flight Track Monitoring System The commission was formed in 1974 based on the German - Austrian State Agreement for the operation at Salzburg Airport. It is composed of representatives from German municipalities, which have been affected by the noise from the aircraft.

Furthermore the Bavarian Ministries of Economy, Traffic and Technology as well as the regional development and Environmental Issues, the government of upper Bavaria, the Landratsamt Berchtesgadener Land, Regional Association for the Prevention of Aircraft Noise, the Flight security, the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Austria Airlines and the airport directive, the Federal Association for the Prevention of Aircraft Noise, and Air Traffic Control. The presidency is the first mayor of Freilassing. 29 meetings have been held to date.

The division of the take off routes towards the West and the North has been one of the most important results from the work of the commission. In 1975 the commission succeeded in increasing the angle of approach by 3°. A corresponding instrument landing system made it possible to reduce the noise level during approach. The crossing altitude was not 250m over the urban area of Freilassing.

The state agreement between Germany and Austria concerning the effect of the premises and operation of Salzburg Airport on the sovereign territory of the Federal Republic of Germany was made law on 17th Mai 1974. A night flight prohibition was also anchored in this agreement. The operating hours of the airport was thus restricted from 6 to 23.

The commission's field of work was expanded on 26th November 1992 due to an amendment of the aviation law: the issue of the air pollution through aircraft completed the area of activity to that date. The Flight Alarm Commission will be primarily occupied with the following themes in the next years: Maintaining the operating times, maintaining the take off routes and the improvement of the VFR approach to Salzburg Airport.
