CEO Dipl. Ing. Günther Auer bequeathed the coming Managementteam under CEO Ing. Roland Hermann a booming commercial enterprise
On the occasion of the last press briefing on annual results on June 27, CEO Günther Auer handed over the reins to the new CEO Roland Hermann and the commissioners duo Karl Heinz Bohl and Rudolf Lipold.

Work, economy and life at and around Salzburg Airport
Salzburg Airport is a dynamic and economically healthy company belonging to city and province of Salzburg. The airport is of great economic importance to the province, especially for tourism in the winter season. Experts from the Salzburg Chambers of Commerce calculated that more than 140 million euros a year is generated by Salzburg Airport (ony with low-cost traffic). The airport is also an important employer. With its 50 company partners, more than 1,200 people are employed, and and for the majority of them it is full-time employment. Salzburg Airport and its partner enterprises provide security and future opportunities for many - above all for young employees and their families. On top of its political significance in the economic and job market Salzburg Airport is well aware of the responsibility for the security and safety of passengers who can travel abroad easily and cost-effectively on holiday or business. This responsibility comprises a perfect partnership with the airlines which are increasingly using the Airport as a "hub", making it the most important provincial airport in Austria.

Salzburg Airport constantly strives to create a peaceful environment to coexist with its neighbours. Whether this be in the diverse areas of the City of Salzburg or the surrounding communities stretching up to neighbouring Bavaria. This peaceful co-existence is a constant process which is continuously developed and was recently re-started and has already proved successful with the joint input for building trust and a fair way of working together.

Salzburg Airport wishes to continue on this path of success in the interests of all and develop itself in a healthy way regarding the big international aviational organisations, especially the probable EU cerosine tax and the CO2 emissions fees.
Our goal is to put quality before quantity in all fields of business at Salzburg Airport.

Statement:
Excerpt of the the supervisory board report from the Deputy Governor, Dr. Othmar Raus
The supervisory board met for 5 meetings in the business year 2005. There were also 6 meetings concerning the construction and investment and 4 meetings with the finance board. The board of directors dealt with all legal business presented to them by the supervisory board. Amongst this was a series of strategic recommendations addressed by the executive.

These comprised:
•           Company growth
•           Securing the acceptance of the airport’s neighbours
•           Company goals influenced by the airport

Consideration of the economic interests of the owners
Further development in the employee sector
The securing of the cooperation of the Salzburg economy with international aviation incorporating the growth potential of tourism presented a significant task. This was a matter of the securing of  future development of the airport also involving the neighbours and concerning the ecological dimensions. The aspects of setting goals, growth profitability and liquidity was of special significance for the board. A harmonious comprehensive solution was finally found.
The further development of the non-aviation side of the airport was also given very special attention. The requirements and the implementation of the measures from the  "Airport Future" project was a particular concern for the board. In a continuous improvement of the company climate, the employees, as the most important capital of a successful operation, secured the basis for jobs with a good and positive image.
The board acknowledges and thanks the managing director and the employees for their extraordinary input and work.

Statement:
Excerpt from the report of the Managing Director, Dipl.-Ing. Günther Auer
Since I took over the position of managing director in the company in 1981, much has changed: we have constantly had to deal with the new demands of the flight operations, air traffic, the company structure, demands from the people in our company and also the relation we have with our neighbours. I am also extremely proud of my team during this last year of my being director: I would like to take the opportunity to thank the employees for their great achievement which we have managed together. I am also grateful to the owners and authorities of society. It cannot be taken for granted that we have such an engaged board of directors with such heart and understanding, at Salzburg Airport.
In addition, I am exceptionally pleased about the almost daily support from our "fans" and friends of Salzburg Airport, of the good economic cooperation with the aviation concerns. Travel organisations, tourism economy and the increasingly good rapport with our neighbours.
I would like to say thank you for the good collaboration with the authorities and all institutions and partners which I worked together with. And - last, not least - I am most happy about the satisfaction of the customers who increasingly use Salzburg Airport as the starting point for their holiday and business travel. We are fit for the future in all areas. We look forward to having the pleasure of greeting you as guests at Salzburg Airport again.

Excerpt from the report of  signatory Roland Hermann - Traffic
2006 brought significant changes to Salzburg Airport, Austria’s biggest provincial airport: the low-cost carriers took the lead in passenger development. Regional traffic with 50 to 80-seaters clearly reduced due to the new low-cost-airlines with their 150 to 190-seaters thus reducing the number of flight movements as a whole.
Whilst flight movement was reduced by a two-figured amount, passenger numbers increased to 1.88 Million. In the schedule flight sector the offer of destinations was considerably extended to an attractive level, especially to Germany and Great Britain. Nevertheless, there were also set backs: the bankruptcy of Styrian Spirit led to the loss of the attractive network connection to Zurich and Paris. The scheduled connection to Amsterdam was also stopped in 2006.
The Zurich connection, on a more hopeful note, was re-established through Cirrus Airlines in collaboration with Swiss from the June 4, 2007.
The number of passengers rose in 2006 by a total of 10.8% to 1,878,266. In the scheduled sector there was a growth of 19.9 % (to 1.11 million) in comparison to the previous year. 759,681 passengers were counted in the tourism sector (-0.4%).
21,511 flight movements in commercial traffic is a dramatic decrease of 12.4% in contrast to 2005 (24,554). The decrease in the scheduled flights was due to the loss of Styrian flights which meant even 16% (to 14,805), in the tourist traffic the decrease was 5.2%.
The profit from flight traffic are determined significantly by the development fo the sum of maximum take off weight (MTOW) of the aircraft landing at the airport. This MTOW increased in this business year by 2.8% to 593,061 tons.
The amount of freight carried in 2006 increased by 10.2 % to 218.8 tons. The  trucking service transported 7,304 tons (minus 1%). The amount of air post carried reached 1,526 tons(+45.2%).

Excerpt from the report of signatory Rudolf Lipold – Construction and Safety
Extension of multi-storey carpark: the clear development of passenger figures increased the need for more park spaces. At the beginning of October 2005, the construction work began to extend the existing multi-storey carpark. Through an optimisation of the building construction it was possible to add 3 more storeys as opposed to the two originally planned. The capacity of the car park was increased from 970 spaces to 1921 spaces.  To provide qualitatively equal parking possibilities to all, the upper storey has been covered with a light roofing construction. In total, the building now has seven storeys: one underground level, a ground level and five upper levels. Despite delays due to bad weather in the winter of 2005/2006, the three additional park levels came into operation  at the end of July 2006 shortly before the Bavarian summer holiday and the ensuing increase of out-going passengers.
Extension of the flight operations: since the 1st April 2001, the red Cross/ÖAMTC (Austrian Automobile Association) and the flight operations of the BMI, have shared a hangar and rooms at Salzburg Airport. This provisionary sharing solution of using the rooms in the BMI-flight operations with the Red Cross/ÖAMTC came to an end, however. On 16th January 2006,  the conversion of the operations started. The costs for the project amounted to approx € 900,000. At the beginning of September the project was completed and handed over to the ÖAMTC / Red Cross. The hangar construction provides the optimal housing for the helicopter in the immediate viscinity of the operations. The service rooms of the ÖAMTC / Red Cross were established to the north of the operations area.
Safety and Security: part of the building conversion carried out for  Airport Security in 2006 consisted of four individual sections for passengers and personnel. This was to prevent the passengers arriving through the "Schengen / Non-Schengen" area getting back onto the ramp area. In the area of the freight building a construction dividing the land and airside was erected. This division was realised on 11.4 by the implementation of an electronic double winged gate system in the warehouse complete with a camera surveillance system. All measures were prescribed for all European Airports through the EU regulation order  2320/2002 "Security at Airports". A camera was installed in the areas of terminal 1, the control equipment in the cellar and at the bulky baggage for the security surveillance of the luggage conveyance system and to alleviate any jam or defect problems.

Bilance and prognosis by signatory Karl Heinz Bohl - Commercial & Finances:
The development of Salzburg  Airport in the last years.
From 2000 to 2005 the airport’s greatest priority was to adapt the buildings, handling facilities and security facilities to the needs and state of technology. The biggest investment in the younger history of the airport clearly impacts this picture. In total, the airport invested 85 million euros to build the new terminal 2, the new luggage sorting building the new
Hold Baggage Screening - HBS, the extension of the check in area and the multi-storey carpark. This investment / expansion phase was ended with the opening of the new multi-storey car park in August 2006. The reason for the investment measures was mainly due to new security regulations set by the EU according to EU guidelines 2320/2002 and the strong increase of low cost carriers in the regional market. Economically, the ground rule rules! Growth and profitability do not exclude each other but are in competition with each other.
In 2005 especially, the profitability values of the company, expressed through the economic figures of profit before interest and tax, the so-called  EBIT Margin – Earnings before Interest and Taxes - and the own capital profitability, were rather low.

Of course, there was also a great deal of input in developing measures to gain external financial input, the sum of which has not yet been disclosed. By Dec. 31, 2006 the external capital value reach an absolute sum of 31.7 million euros, 27 million euros of which were financed via conventional loans and credits. 10 million euros were placed on a third market at the Vienna stock exchange in the form of a medium-sized bond.

As a measure of reaching the shareholder specifications, the "Airport Future" project was initiated and intensively developed.
It was possible to reach this target through organisational measures, improvement in efficiency, and finally through the commitment of all employees and exceed this specification with a 12% EBIT margin real und 8% equity profitability.
In aboslute figures, 2006 was the best result of the Airport since the direction was taken over by Günther Auer 25 years ago.
Concerning economic facts, the 2006 business year was an introduction of the company of values of the past particularly before the great investments of the mid-90s.
The cash flow as a significant indicator for financing the company on its own and a feature for the earning of excess income was again in a two-figured million euro area (12.9 million €). In 1995 - before the investment measures - the company cash flow was already at a two figured million euro level (10.4 million €). This figure has dropped to just under 5.1 Mio. € over the years. At the end of the 2006 business year, a clear plus in the cash flow could be seen which was the first time since the great investment phase in earlier times.
This was achieved inspite of the decrease in the flight movement of scheduled and charter flights from 24,554 movements 2005 to 21,511 in 2006 as well as a rise in the passenger figures in 2005 - 2006 in comparison to the previous years. In 2006, a total of 1.88 million passengers were handled at Salzburg Airport. In 2005, this figure was around 1.7 Million passengers. There was an even bigger average growth in percent between 2000 and 2005. A deciding factor for the successful financial statement of the financial year 2006 was also the criteria of efficiency in reached costs and efficiency performance as well as an slight decrease in full-time employee equivalents from 264 (2005) to 248 (2006).

Conclusion: the equity to assets ratio at 57% is extraordinary and the economic future of the company seems to be secured from this perspective.
