Cirrus Airlines and SWISS fly together: from Salzburg to Zürich and on to the rest of the world! [02.04.2007]
Cirrus-Swiss Pressekonferenz 2.4.07
All passengers travelling from Salzburg and the surrounding area should highlight the 4th of June in their diaries in red. From this date, Cirrus Airlines will fly, Mondays to Fridays, three times daily and once on Sundays, from Salzburg to Zürich.

Three times daily from Monday to Friday and once daily on Sundays.

All flights will operate in co-operation with Swiss International Air Lines AG, which will guarantee fast, low-priced and comfortable connecting flights from Zürich to destinations throughout the world.

Daniel Noraman, Managing Director of the renowned German airline, Cirrus Airlines said: "For our market entry in Austria we will have an aircraft in Salzburg and create 15 new jobs with this." For the Alps shuttle, Cirrus Airlines will use a Dornier 328 – a modern aircraft which offers 31 Economy and Business class seats.

Anton Brunnauer, Key Account Manager for Swiss International Air Lines AG in Salzburg and Vorarlberg said: "The Salzburg market goes right up to South Bavaria and offers great economic potential. With our attractive connecting flights from Zürich to worldwide destinations we will, in the future, be able to offer travellers to and from Salzburg even better flight connections."

As a member of the Lufthansa bonus programme Miles & More, all Cirrus Airlines and SWISS passengers will also be able to collect the popular status and premium miles.

Besides the positive effects for passengers from Salzburg, the managing director of Salzburg Airport, Günther Auer, is also well aware of the economic significance of the new flight connection for Salzburg. "The dynamic economic region of Salzburg will be connected with the greater area of Zürich which belongs to the top regions worldwide. The biggest Swiss airport operates flights to the world’s most important destinations. We are, therefore, pleased that we are now connected even more strongly internationally from Salzburg via Zürich. The fact that we got this opportunity in Salzburg shows the significance of our airport in Austria. With the new Zürich connection we can clearly strengthen our position as a state number one to Vienna-Schwechat with modern, quiet aircraft. And this is independent of seasonal fluctuations as Cirrus Airlines and SWISS offer the new flights throughout the entire year." Roland Hermann, Division Manager for Transport and Marketing is equally pleased about the new flight connection: "We have succeeded in getting a connection to the Star Alliance route network via the multi-hub Zurich just in time for the big EURO 2008 football event. Salzburg’s travellers now have the opportunity to travel, via Zürich, to the whole world and, if desired, can return via Frankfurt."

"Salzburg has new lifeblood, an attractive business connection. The direct connection to Zürich is of immense importance for the business location because, with this, the city and the country become much more accessible to the rest of the world," explains economics expert Dr. Wilfried Haslauer. "The hub of Zürich is an important connection to many long distance destinations. Cirrus Airlines and Airport Salzburg guarantee that Salzburg will be even easier to reach for business and leisure travellers as of June. Finally, we are also looking forward to seeing even more Swiss visitors in Salzburg," explains Haslauer.
