New round hangar as emergency medical helicopter operations center [20.07.2006]
On January 16, 2006, the ground-breaking ceremony was held for expansion and remodeling of the flight operations center for the Red Cross and ÖAMTC, one of Austria’s major automobile clubs.

The renovation of the area cost some € 750,000 and was completed in June 2006.

The opening ceremony for the new round hangar was held on July 20. "This expansion work puts an end to the bottleneck we’ve had here for years and provides the emergency team with modern facilities. Now the rescue helicopter can take off faster and the time gain benefits every injured individual transported. I am pleased that we were able to make this investment, thus safeguarding the vital role played by helicopter rescue in Salzburg’s rescue system for at least the next 15 years," commented Health Officer and Provincial Governor Gabi Burgstaller.
