Salzburg Airport rules out future investment in airlines [29.03.2006]
Salzburg Airport management wishes to clarify its position in consultation with owners, state and municipal agencies pursuant to recent discussions triggered by discontinuation of service to Graz and Salzburg by Styrian Air:

1. Others partners’ decisions to invest was contingent upon Salzburg’s participation in the investment model Styrian offered Salzburg, which never came to fruition.

2. In the future, all kinds of investments in airlines are categorically excluded regardless of their combination.

3. Currently, all Salzburg Airport efforts are aimed at reestablishing commercial service to Zurich, Paris and Amsterdam with codeshare partners Swiss, Air France and KLM.

4. Even if sudden cessation of service on Zurich and Paris routes leads to a noticeable short-term drop in the scheduled flights offered by the network, Austria’s largest regional airport is still experiencing moderate growth. Salzburg flights operated by Austrian Arrows within the Star Alliance continue to provide several daily connections through Vienna and Frankfurt to intercontinental flight networks. On April 4, Ryanair commenced service to Brussels and Dublin several times per week.

5. The updated non-stop flight schedule for summer 2006 is available on the internet.
