Salzburg welcomes British Airlines: Five times weekly to London Gatwick as of December 2006 [17.03.2006]
British Airways will include Salzburg in its program as its second city in Austria. The entire region is thrilled with this premium connection to London Gatwick, offered five times weekly from December. Comprehensive market surveys preceded this move.

After a year of intensive negotiations with ten other competitive European destinations, Paolo de Renzis, British Airways Country Manager Austria & Switzerland and Roland Hermann, Head of Marketing at Salzburg Airport, were pleased to announce the good news today.

"This new top-quality product connects us to One World Alliance and the hub in London through the best airline in the world," reports the Airport’s thrilled Marketing Director, Roland Hermann. "Salzburg Airport has thus achieved an important marketing goal – a link to a third alliance in addition to Star Alliance and SkyTeam Alliance. The Salzburg Region will benefit considerably from this new cooperation. We estimate this route will generate approximately 70,000 passengers per year."
