Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart is equipped with a modern first aid centre which according to the amount of traffic has a team of qualified first aid helpers on duty which is complemented by an emergency doctor who is always on call.

In case of emergency the airport's emergency team is supported by the red cross which has 2 rescue helicopters (stationed at Salzburg Airport) 3 special cars for the emergency doctors, and about 20 ambulances ensuring swift first aid directly on location and a speedy delivery to the surrounding hospitals.

Salzburg Airport is also equipped with 2 defibrillator (for acute heart problems) These are kept in the customs area and in the  operations fire engine belonging to the airport fire brigade so that there is always one of them ready for use on the air and landside of the airport.
The equipment is a AED Plus Defibrillator, this means a basic defibrillator for non-experts. These devices can be used by trained first aid workers and trained and certified firemen and are there for most suited to the airport. This basic defibrillator is makes it possible for the trained amateur to recognize a life threatening heart rhythm disturbance such as a heart attack, and treat it as quickly as possible. This semi-automatic high tech device guarantees absolute safety as it is technically impossible to give a shock by mistake.
